THE 2020 BRIER CURLING POOL

Here we are with the second pool of Spring 2020! And the first Brier pool since 2016! It's coming up fast so let's get going then!

THE HEARTS AND BRIER TOURNAMENTS HAVE CHANGED SINCE 2016. Yes, this year's Hearts and Brier are continuing with a new format. (Changes coming to Brier, Scotties in 2018)

SO HERE GOES: 1. They start with a Wild Card "Play-in" game where the two top Canadian teams that have not yet qualified for the event, play a single game on the Friday night before the event. Winner stays as the "Wild Card" team, loser goes home. (Ouch!) 2. The 16 participating teams play round robins in two "Pools", Pool A and Pool B. 3. The top 4 teams in the standings in each Pool A and Pool B advance to a "Championship Round" and play 4 more games each. (Bottom 4 teams in both pools are GONE) 4. The top 4 teams to come out of the Championship Round now play a standard Page Playoff round.

NEW POOL FORMAT! So the pool format has had to change to follow the new tournament format. You will have to 1. Pick a bunch of Round Robin games (no change here); 2. Pick the top 4 teams in each of Pool A and Pool B who you think will advance to the Championship Round; 3. Pick who you think will be in the Page Playoff, Semifinal and Final matches; and 4. Apply rank points to all your selections (same as before). That's it!

NEW POOL ENTRY FEE! One last thing! Since there's only 2 curling pools this spring, I've decided to try a bigger entry fee. As suggested by some of you. The Hearts and Brier pools entry fees are $5.00! Yes it's higher. But don't forget, the prizes will be that much higher too! And 2 pools for $10 as opposed to the previous 4 pools for $8. Let's give it a shot!

Important Sites:

Curling Canada's 2020 Brier Event Site You can find completed draw scores here!
TSN's Curling Home Page Having less and less confidence in TSN's curling page. But here's the link if you want it.
2019-2020 CTRS TEAM RANKINGS See how all the Men's teams are ranked! This is where I got the rankings on the entry form.
The Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) Explained Check it out.
What's wrong with TSN's Curling page? Just one thing I guess. During the Scotties, I wanted to see game results, so I clicked their link, and got Hockey scores! Turns out they were right about yesterday's 1-2 playoff. It had to change due to all the tiebreaker games. But there's nowhere to send feedback to TSN either. For joe shmoes who don't have a userid and want to complain. Oh well!

FUN STUFF:

Just some curling stuff for a laugh!

Bikini Curling! Ha ha ha curling is so sexy... (38 seconds)
What the... who says yoga and curling don't mix? (Not responsible for the "related videos", don't look at them!!)
Kaitlyn Lawes Quadruple Takeout Wow!

That’s all I’ve got for now. Excellent Brier!
