THE 2018 OLYMPIC CURLING POOL

Hey! Welcome to the first and only Curling pool of 2018! Yes, the Olympics are underway! With Mixed Doubles curling already going! And it's on the pool! Just a handful of games from that, including the semifinals and medal matches! Followed by the usual Womens and Mens Teams curling that we're all used to.

So! Let's get at it! The Pool entry deadline was Wednesday, February 7th!! At 6:00 PM! Getting very close! That is the start of the Mixed Doubles Round Robin. The doubles goes til Tuesday, Feb. 13... Which is when the Teams curling starts! Anyway, click the links below to see all the dates and times! Check out the entry form... You'll see we got 9 Mixed Doubles games on the pool, and 30 regular teams curling games. And you gotta do them all!

RUSSIAN DOPING NEWS
Russian curlers to hand back bronze medals after positive doping test
"Robbed of moment of glory": Norwegian curlers want special medal ceremony
The Latest: Russian curler won't appeal his positive doping test, Norway elevated to mixed doubles bronze medal
Russian Mixed Doubles Bronze Medallist Alexander Krushelnitsky has failed both drug tests. The Russian team has been stripped of their Bronze medal, and it has been awarded to Norway!
POOL ACTION:So I have changed the result of the Mixed Doubles Bronze match, awarding the win to NORWAY now. This is how this changes our pool: Yvonne and Doug, near the top, score 2 more points for the Norway win; and Dan gains 1/2 a point. And Melodie (Wild Card), at the bottom, who picked Russia to win Bronze, loses 2 points. (Sorry!) That is all that is affected. Never had to do this before in a pool that I can remember!

Official Final Standings Hey we're done! Click to see how we all did - the official hand-verified results!
The Olympic Trials Pool MASTER Spreadsheet... This Excel document has it all! Everybody's picks, right up to the finals! And you can do your own projections! (375K Byte Excel spreadsheet)
The Master Spreadsheet in Web Page Format This non-Microsoft document is great for quick access to everyone's picks. It's not in perfect beautiful format but you don't need Microsoft Office to look at it! (size: 270K bytes)
The Zipped Version ... All this pool's documents crammed into just a 125K zip file! The Master Spreadsheet and Entry form, both in the two formats. And the Standings of course. It's faster and less hassle to download this to use the Excel Entry Form or Master Spreadsheet, rather than try to open those directly. But whatever you like. The Web Page versions are pretty quick to check out!
The Pool Entry Form Enter once! Enter often! The more the merrier! Again it's the great entry form format with drop down menus for everything! And it also includes some helpful team ranking information! (75K Excel Spreadsheet document)

Instructions for using the Excel Pool Entry Form
To fill out the interactive entry form below and send it to me, you MUST save your picks on your computer. Then email the file you saved to me as an attachment. That's the only way I will get your picks! That's because the form is NOT a true online form. But it's still very awesome to use!

The Pool Entry Form - Web Page Format It's not interactive. But it's not Microsoft, so anyone can see it. So you can print it out and fill it out on paper. Use whichever doc you like! (100K bytes)

General Pool Rules and Instructions This is the MASTER rules document for the regular curling pools! But the prize structure and other things still apply to this one. (40K html document)
The General Curling Pools Rules and Help... in a Zip File. ... The above Rules, in two formats, plus a jpg of the Page Playoff Format (NOT being used in this tournament). All in a 25K zip file. Grab em all!

SPECIAL PLAYOFF NOTE: The Olympics does NOT use the Page Playoff System. For regular OR mixed doubles curling. The top 4 teams still make the playoffs. But they simply have two Semifinal games - 1st place vs 4th place, and 2nd place vs 3rd place. Winners of these go to the Gold match; losers of the semis go straight to the Bronze match. And that is it!

TV COVERAGE:

TSN's Curling Home Page. Most of the Mixed Curling has been on TSN. Check here, "Curling On TSN" tells you stuff!

Sports Illustrated's AMERICAN TV coverage: Apparently, NBC will be broadcasting all the curling! On regular NBC, or NBCSN, or streaming. (Along with all the other Olympic sports.) So... check this out if you like!
MyCurling.com This site keeps track of all coverage. And once CBC/Sportsnet announces their schedule, you can find that here!

The World Curling Federation's Olympic Page Latest results are RIGHT IN YOUR FACE! So if you go here... be careful.
The World Curling Federation's Home Page Latest news and whatever else.
